Joining the orchestra...
We're a friendly bunch, and we always welcome new members. It's really a good idea to be able to play a musical instrument - we don't have formal auditions, but you should be a "good amateur", whatever that means. We're particularly looking for reinforcements in the strings (violins, violas and doudle-basses) and the brass.
When?
We rehearse on Friday evenings, from 7.45pm until 10pm. Then some of us go to the pub...
Where?
Our rehearsals usually take place at St Nicholas Church Hall, Summer Road, Thames Ditton KT7 0QQ, which is 5 minutes walk from Thames Ditton station.
Music?
We play a good old mixture of music. Typically we will open a concert with an overture, followed by a concerto, often with a guest soloist, then play a symphony in the 2nd half.
Tell me about the concerts
Concerts usually take place in Kingston Parish Church, in the Market Place. Gents wear black tie, ladies all black, and we get audiences of around 200. Our "season" consists of concerts in October, Christmas, Easter and July.Email us for more details.
So, please get in touch, or simply turn up! Check the rehearsal schedule to make sure we're actually at St Nicholas Church Hall and there's a rehearsal on the day. We look forward to playing with you!
