Easy publicity tips

There are some easy (electronic) steps you can take to spread the word amongst friends and colleagues about our concerts – the easiest being to add a note to your email signature. This and other steps are described now. If you come up with any others, let us know.

Email signature

This is a standard text message that goes at the bottom of your emails. It is easy to set up, so why not add a couple of lines describing our concert, such as the following:
Next Kingston Phil concert Sat 18th October
Glinka, Schumann, Dvorak Sym no 8
http://www.kingstonphil.org.uk/ for more
Here's how to do it:
  • In Outlook, use the Tools/Options menu option, select the Mail Format tab and click on the Signature button.
  • In Outlook Express, use the Tools/Options menu option, and select the Signature tab.
  • In Hotmail, click on Options at the top-right corner of the screen and then on Personal email signature in the Customize your mail section, or for a fuller description follow this link.
  • In gmail (googlemail), click the Settings link at the top right of the screen and enter the text in the box provided.

Facebook

Write a note on your facebook wall. All your facebook contacts will then receive it. First, make sure that you acquire some (Facebook) friends.

The Word version can be viewed and printed with Microsoft Word.
If you don't have Word on your machine, you can get a Word viewer from Microsoft. This allows you read and print Word documents, but not to create or edit them. It is free.

The Acrobat version can be viewed and printed with Adobe Acrobat, which is free and can be downloaded from Adobe's web site. It will probably be on your machine already.
If not, and you have a newish PC with lots of memory, get the latest version. If you want (to my mind) a stable, bug-free, fast and lean version (or you have an older PC), get version 6 (now the earliest you can go back to).
Better still, get a copy of Foxit Reader. This is a lot faster than standard Adobe Acrobat.
